The Update 04:08
The Update © Martin Kerr 2016 Verse 1: Computer wants to update a program. I always click on try again tomorrow, cause that’s not what I need. The garden wants a weeding. The summer’s almost over. I haven’t got round to planting the seeds. Chorus: What have I been waiting for all this time? What am I complaining for? The fault’s all mine. I could cross that bridge, if someone else would pay the toll. But won’t somebody send an update to my soul? Verse 2: My phone it wants to update the system, but I don’t really trust it. Usually ends up slower than before. The politicians never stop campaigning. One day we’re gonna bust ‘em. We’re capable of so much more. Chorus: What have I been waiting for all this time? What am I complaining for? The fault’s all mine. Sitting here just waiting for my youth to come again. I’ll stop procrastinating, but don’t ask me when. I could cross that bridge, if someone else would pay the toll. But won’t somebody send an update to my soul? Verse 3: I wanna feel you love me more than ever. I know I don’t deserve it. I’m not the man I was back then. Skinnier and brighter and more hopeful. Is that the way you want me? I’m not sure I can be that again. Verse 4: Should you ever lose your sense of wonder, walk out to the ocean And sing out to the stars on high. All the generations gone before you will hear you from the heavens, They’ll help you if you’d only try. Chorus: What have we been waiting for all these hours? What are we complaining for? The remedy is ours. We’re sitting here just waiting for our youth to come again. We’ll stop procrastinating, we can choose just when. We can cross that bridge, and only we can pay the toll. Yes only I can make an update to my soul.

Little Screens © Martin Kerr 2016 VERSE 1 I thought this thing would make me more creative They told me buying this would give me time So why have I become so vegetative? This little voice keeps screaming in my mind... CHORUS: Take a walk, lift your head and see the sunrise You don’t need to read the news today it’s mostly lies. If you wanna know you’re not alone, get your fingers off your phone, Get up out of your comfort zone and improvise. VERSE 2 Now I’ve lost years of life to doing research. Looking at the world through little screens Got the knowledge of the ages at my fingers But sitting here won’t teach me what it means CHORUS BRIDGE C, Dm, F, G x2 I won’t be tethered to technology no more I feel my feathers getting lighter than before. Breakdown Verse: So I’m stepping out to see we’re all creative I’m turning off to take a little time Don’t need one more electrical sedative... CHORUS: Take a walk, lift your head and see the sunrise You don’t need to read the news today its all lies If you wanna know you’re not alone, get your fingers off your phone… Coda: Give me clouds, give me stars and give me sunsets Gotta leave the house, leave the keyboard and the regrets. If you wanna know you’re not alone, get your fingers off your phone. There are friends all over town you haven’t met yet. There is so much more to see beyond the internet. Empty pockets, empty hands and you’ll be all set.

Disappear 03:09
Disappear © Martin Kerr 2016 Verse 1: The propane tank is empty, the sausages are gone The sundeck is deserted, put your mittens on. Get the blankets from the basement, The cold's a-comin' soon Our Summer love's as far off as that harvest moon. Chorus: I don't want to face the winter, at least, not on my own. You said you'd stay forever, but I should have known. You were always selling something, saying what I want to hear. Now you're gone I only want to disappear. Verse 2: There's a little dappled sunlight cutting through the trees. The shadows are like fingers reaching out for me... CHORUS Instrumental CHORUS Verse 3: I still hear your footsteps creaking on the stairs. I feel your breath beside me when I say my prayers...
