about
It's a really relaxed, sincere love song about savoring those simple, intimate moments together with your true love. It tells the story of a quiet, beautiful, ordinary day together. I've heard too many songs about the first night of a relationship - I love writing about what love feels like after years and years. There's a couple funny moments too, which I think is really characteristic of a happy, long-term love.
lyrics
I’ll write a song - a song for you
I’ll look into your eyes whenever you want me to
I’ll light a fire, and pour the tea
Right here with you’s the only place I wanna be
We’ll snuggle up and hunker down
Out the window leaves are drifting to the ground
I don’t count the days anymore
One breath at a time
We could lie forever on this floor
I’ve got your hand in mine
We’ll take a walk to that cafe
You’ll have a london fog and I’ll get my earl grey
And then we’ll stroll down to the stream
I’ll try to skip a stone and you’ll just laugh at me
I don’t count the hours anymore
One breath at a time
We could stand forever on this shore
‘Cause I’ve got your hand in mine
It’s getting late
Let’s head on home
No you can’t wear my coat, you should have brought your own
We’ll lock the door
The world can wait
Where this is going I don’t wanna speculate
I don’t count the minutes anymore
One breath at a time
We could never ask for any more
‘Cause I’ve got your hand in mine
I’ve got your hand in mine
